  • Temperament : irritable 
  • Diathesis : scrofulous & lymphatic
  • Thermal : very chilly 
  • Side affinity : Right 

Sphere of action 

  • Lymphatics, Respiratory system, skin, mucous membrane etc. 

Constitution 

  • Suited to lymphatic constitution with light hair, light complexion, flabby muscles. 

Guiding symptoms + keynotes 

  1. A/F : slightest exposure to cold, abuse of mercury, suppressed skin affections.
  2. Hoarseness : in the morning. 
  3. Hastens suppuration : especially when given in low to moderate potency.
  4. Hypersensitive : physically and mentally. 
  5. Hot fomentation : ameliorates. 
  6. Hyper impulsive. 
  7. Hasty : in drinking and in speech. 
  8. Heavy perspiration : even after slightest exertion, which is sour and offensive. 
  9. Highly chilly : imagines he can feel the wind if a door is open in a next room. 
  10. All the discharges are sour (calc.carb.).
  11. The slightest injury causes suppuration (sili., merc.s.).
  12. Always wants to be covered (calc.carb.) - sweating patient pulling blanket around him.



Mind

  • Oversensitive, physically and mentally.
  • The slightest cause irritates him. 
  • Hasty speech. 
  • Angry at the least trifle. 
  • Unreasonably anxious.
  • Anguish, Evening aggravates, Irritable, Oversensitive, Unreasonably anxious - AEIOU.

Head

  • Right sided headache. 
  • Headache with vertigo when shaking the head or riding.

Eyes

  • Corneal ulcer. 
  • Iritis with pus in anterior chamber. 
  • Purulent conjunctivitis.

Respiratory system 

  • Cough : when any part of the body is uncovered, exposed to dry west wind. 
  • Sensation : as if a plug and of a splinter in throat. 
  • Character : Dry, croupy, choking, strangling.
  • Croup : after exposure to dry cold west wind
  • Deep, rough, barking cough, with hoarseness and rattling of mucous. 
  • Asthma : after suppression of skin affection.
  • Anxious, wheezing, rattling, short, deep breathing, threatened suffocation. 
  • < must bend head backwards and sit up.

Mouth

  • Ulcers on gums and mouth. 
  • Pus formation in decayed tooth leads to offensiveness on the oral cavity.

GIT / Rectum 

  • Stool : soft clay coloured offensive stool. 
  • Loss of power to expell even a soft stool. 

Urinary system 

  • Voided slowly, without force, drops vertically - due to no force in voiding. 
  • Weakness of bladder in old man. 
  • Feels as if some urine always remains (alumina, sil.).

Skin

  • Unhealthy skin - The slightest injury causes suppuration. 
  • The skin affection is extremely sensitive to touch. 
  • Perspiration : profuse, sour, offensive. 
  • Hepar may open the abscess and hasten the cure. 
  • When hepar fails, Silicea completes the cure - when indicated. 
  • Hepar can be used in every skin affection when the suppuration is well marked feature. 

Modalities 

  • Aggravation : cold in general - cold air, uncovering, eating or drinking cold, touch, lying on painful side. 
  • Amelioration : warmth in general - wrapping up, hot fomentation. 

Relations

  • Complementary : to, calendula in injuries of soft parts. 
  • Antidotes : bad effects of mercury - that is why its also there as an ailment.
