Introduction

• This is the great Hahnemannian anti-psoric medicine. 
• Its action is centrifugal, from within outward. 
• It has specific affinity for skin, it may produce burning with itching, which is aggravated by heat of bed. 
• It is indicated when well selected remedy fails to act and there is psora in background. 
• It is capable of removing psoric miasmatic block. 

Sphere of action

• Centrifugal action.
• Skin+, nervous system, mucous membrane etc. 

Constitution

• Lean, stoop-shouldered person, who walk and sit stoop. 
• Dirty, filthy looking person. 
• Standing is worst position for sulphur patient. 
• Redness of all external orifices. 
• Congestion of single part, such as lip, eye, anus etc. - due to plethora. 

Guiding symptoms + keynotes

1. A/F : suppressed skin disease, alcohol, heat of sun.
2. Nash's trio of burning : sulphur, ars. Alb., phosphorus. 
3. Burning anywhere and everywhere in the body.
4. Offensiveness of discharges. 
5. Continually relapsing complaints, when carefully selected medicine fails to act, especially in acute cases.
6. Standing is the worst position for sulphur patient. Stands with stooped shoulder.
7. Empty all gone sensation in stomach especially at 11:00 am, can not wait for the lunch.
8. H/O suppressed skin disease. 
9. Ragged philosopher. 
10. It is useful in beginning the treatment of chronic case and in finishing acute case.
11. Acrid and excoriating discharges leads to redness of orifices. 

Mind

• Ragged philosopher, rag = old torn unclean clothes. 
• He him self is ragged but it seems beautiful for him. Everything seems beautiful to him. 
• Very forgetful, weak memory. 
• Selfish, religious melancholy, irritable, depressed. 
• Pt feels movement in abdomen, as if there is a foetus (crocus.s.).

Respiratory system 

• Especially suited to pneumonia. 
• A/ F : suppressed skin disease. 
• L : upper lobe of left lung (phos.).
• S : oppression and burning in chest. 
• M : < night, lying on back. 
•        > dry warm weather, lying on right side. 
• Difficulty in respiration especially at night, wants windows open. 
• Cough : loose cough with Rattling of mucus in chest (death rattle - ant.t.).
• Sputa : greenish, purulent and sweetish expectoration. 
• Pain : stitching pain.
• Indicated in last stage or resolution stage of pneumonia. 

G. I. T.

• Empty all gone sensation in stomach especially at 11:00 am, can not wait for the lunch.
• Pt feels movement in abdomen, as if there is a foetus (crocus.s.).
• Desire for sweets

• Stool : A/F : same as Guidings. 
• Diarrhoea alternates with constipation (nux.v).
• Constipation : stool is very hard, knotty, dry as if burnt (bry., plat.), large and painful.
• Frequent unsuccessful desire, pt is afraid to pass stool due to painful defecation. 
• Diarrhoea : morning diarrhoea.
• Painless, drives out of bed with prolapsus recti.
• Offensive, acrid, excoriating discharge leads to redness and itching of anal orifice. 

• Piles : painful piles, bleeding or non-bleeding / blind.
• Piles with constipation. 
• Anus is itchy and red. 

Menses

• Vaginal burning due to acrid menses
• Late, short, scanty, thick, black, acrid menses
• Soreness of parts due to acrid menses. 

Skin

• A/F : suppressed skin disease, alcohol, heat of sun.
• Indicated in all kind of skin diseases. 
• Dirty, filthy looking skin, pt do not like to take bath. 
• Every injury suppurates (hep.s.,sili.,graph.).
• After suppression of skin disease by means of external application. 
• Dry, scaly, unhealthy skin. 
• Voluptuous itching, scratches until it bleeds. 
• Scratching leads to burning and bleeding. 

Baby

• Consider all the suitable points from introduction, guidings and every systems involved.

Modalities 

• Aggravation : Standing, warmth of bed, bathing, morning. 
• Amelioration : Dry warm weather, lying on right side.
