Pathogenesis 

  • Ipeca PROVOKES AND CURES VOMITING
  • Its chief action is on Pneumogastric Nerve. 
  • As the name suggests, it acts on both pneumo - related to lungs and gastric - related to stomach.
  • It produces spasmodic irritation in both the parts. 
  • First it affects of respiratory system and causes asthma or related complain later on it affects on the GIT and causes nausea and vomiting. 
  • Where it can cause constant and persistent nausea with or without vomiting. 
  • Sometimes bright red haemorrhage from natural orifices can also be seen due to spasms. 

Respiratory system 

  • Ipeca is indicated where the chest is loaded with mucus. 
  • Which leads to rapid wheezing sound and rattling sound (ant.t.).
  • All these symptoms are as similar as pneumonia.
  • It leads to suffocating cough. 
  • Resulting in whooping cough, breathlessness, paleness or blueness etc. 
  • Something bright red haemorrhage may occur due to spasms. 

G. I. T. 

  • Thirstlessness is well marked (aeth., puls., gels., ars. in chronic stage, apis except chill stage). 
  • Clean / slightly coated tongue. 
  • Thirstlessness is well marked but there is profuse saliva in oral cavity. 
  • Stomach : it is useful in diseases which commence with continuous nausea and vomiting.
  • Stool : green as grass, with white mucus, bloody, fermented, foamy like frothy molases. 
  • Cutting pain across the abdomen from left to right.
